Bendigo Jailhouse Rockers Club was formed in August 1996. Our original home was at the Finn Street Reserve hall where we operated for some years until relocating to our current venue – St Andrews Church hall in Myers Street. We meet every Monday night from 7.30 to 10pm (with the exception of a small break over Christmas/New Year). Lessons run from 7.30 to 8.30pm, social dancing follows, and a light supper is provided.
We provide to our members and the general public a variety of lessons including Beginners Rock’n’Roll, Intermediate Rock’n’Roll, Beginners Swing and Intermediate Swing. We also hold a number of other social events, such as dinner dances, throughout the year.
We have many requests for demonstrations and lesson workshops at fete’s, dances, nursing homes, schools and the like, and have travelled as far a field as Pyramid Hill to fulfil these requests.
Our club boasts a consistent membership of around 180 members, and to become a member it is currently only $25.00 to join. Club membership gives you (amongst other things) discounted rates to all club run functions.
Visitors are always welcome to join in on Monday night club nights for social dancing. A small entry fee of $5, and includes a light supper. For more information please call Roma (Publicity Officer) on 5446 7293 or Leanne (President) on 5435 2075 evenings.
